Chronic jaw, head, neck, or back pain can debilitate patients making them miss out on many of life’s moments. Cranial facial pain is often a symptom of a greater underlying physical issue.
Causes: Cranial facial pain can point towards a deeper concern, such as TMD (caused by your temporomandibular joint or TMJ), sleep apnea, poor nutrition, or other physical injuries. Pain in the jaw, neck, head, or back is often a sign of the body overcompensating, such as changing posture to avoid pain or injury. Tightening your jaw, stress, or jaw problems also lead to chronic head pain.
Symptoms: Chronic head pain often results in the following symptoms:
- Head, neck pain
- Popping noise in jaw
- Locking jaw
- Waking up with painful or sore jaw
- Feeling of too much pressure in jaw, neck, or head
- Restlessness, fatigue, memory loss
